Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) will install 900 plus electric vehicle charging stations in India in 2022. 396 EV charging stations have already been installed in the country.

CESL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) which is an entity under the Ministry of Power.

CESL’s MD Mahua Acharya said, “As of date, 396 charging stations have been installed across the country, out of which 166 are commissioned. When we see a projection for 2022, we are doing all we can to expand the number of charging stations in the country – including install or enable the installation of another 900 more.”

CESL has joined hands with many private and public companies for installing EV charging stations and also with urban local bodies for creating such infrastructure.

For setting up charging infrastructure, the land is the main requirement which is provided by most municipal bodies free of cost or by firms for public chargers.

Now, many automobile companies and private players are installing these infrastructures. The main intention behind this all is to boost electric vehicle adoption in India.

A few days ago, CESL also released the ‘MyEV’ app which enables the deployment of EVs in the country and is a digital marketplace and Kerala was the first state to provide this app for all EV users.

CESL is also working on providing energy solutions with renewable energy, and electric mobility at concessional rates.
