Delhi government instructs all its departments and government offices to identify appropriate locations for installing public EV charging stations at the premises of such areas within 3 months.
The government will provide a subsidy of Rs. 6000 for each charging point for enrolled vendors. If any employees have electric vehicles, they can charge them during work hours.
Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said, “Electric vehicles are being promoted rapidly throughout Delhi in order to implement the vision of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. In Delhi, electric vehicle charging stations are being built speedily. The general public, in addition to government employees, will also be able to charge their vehicles here.”
The heads of the departments can contact their respective DISCOM and tell them the locations suitable for installing the EV charging point. The government departments which install the chargers on their premises will receive subsidies on these chargers. The vendors will get subsidies from the transport department electric vehicle fund through DISCOM.
The transport department also made a guidebook for setting up EV charging. The departments which have high public dealings would require to promote electric mobility.
